My questions are... Could I still use the G5 as some kind of server for the rest of the macs in the house, what would I need to install and what benefits would I get from doing this?
Sorry it's such a broad question, but I think it'd be a shame to stop using the G5 as I still feel it's a great machine.
It all depends on what kind of service(s) you want the server to provide.

I thought I read (in one of these threads somewhere) where someone had stuck it on a PowerBook and it was faster then it had been before the upgrade.
I might try it on my wife's iMac G4, just for kicks. I haven't upgraded it at all (it's still on Jaguar) so it might be an interesting time.
Anybody going down to Ft. Worth next weekend? :D

Hello,
Soon, I will hopefully buy my first iMac. It's going to be the 21,5 inch based model. But reading the posts here on the forums makes me hesitate. Most of the threads are just about problems with the iMac. So I wanted to know what you really think of the iMac.
Remember: I'm not going to do extraordinary things with it: replacing hard drives, adding more RAM, or driving the software to it's limit, etc.
To do so I want you to give a score out of 1 to 10.
Please help out.

I have noticed the speed improvement too. Subtle but just feels more solid and smoother if that make sense.

No, I guess not. I could probably do copy and paste. I was trying to use the screen shot feature instead to see how it works.
When you took the screenshot, the shot screen loads in a new Preview window. Press CMD+A, then CMD+C to copy it.
Or use the shortcuts listed here (http://guides.macrumors.com/Taking_Screenshots_in_Mac_OS_X).

I have a 2011 MacBook pro 15 inch and the iPad 1.... I use the iPad mostly for reading books and listening to podcast, and MBP for everything else. You can't beat the iPad for portable reading. I think you should keep them both. :D

What program is that? And yes, I'm also noticing better (i.e. less accelerated) mouse movement in Lion (using Magic Mouse).
By no problem, do you mean that you feel no difference between 10.6 an 10.7?
Well the cursor is not as fast as in Windows, but it's managable.
It means that the cursor movement is not linear to the mouse movement. Google it and you will see that it's a huge issue for people that want to game on their Macs, especially for Windows switchers that are not used to it. The worst part is that there is no setting in OS X to remove it.
Here are two images that illustrate it (from a 3rd party software that removes the acceleration)

What exactly does "unofficially" mean? Is there any chance of damaging the machine if I install 8gbs?

Yes, they honor AppleCare.

As much as the sarcasm was welcomed - he did ask for just the screen portion. I.E - without the stand. So that "really helpful website" wasn't too helpful.
Come on kids. You can work it out with a bit of pythagoras. Do you need me to tie your shoe laces for you as well?

Hi All,
How do I keep m Mac clean?? I have downloaded a couple of applications that I do not need, how do I delete them??
Thanks,
Will
Nothing needed to clean the Mac, to uninstall applications, drag them from the Applications folder onto the Trash icon in the Dock.
To delete preferences and other small data that application may have left behind: Best way to FULLY DELETE a program (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=11171082&postcount=16)

This is my main concern: If I run a stream from a cable modem or fios provider to the website, and there are let's say 200 people on, wouldn't that pretty much choke the internet connection that's being used for the camera? I was wondering if there's some way to have the stream go to my web host and then maybe have people use their bandwidth. Kind of like streaming to Justin.tv where they act as the middle man so that your bandwidth isn't used up when more than one person is watching the stream.

Didn't know you get credit in the Support Notes for reporting a bug :D time to start bug hunting...
It actually depends(largely on the group at Apple I think)
I reported a bug with an Apple product(Java), and while the engineer was quite responsive and eventually fixed the bug, I unfortunately didn't get a nod in the release notes.
It seems that most security bug finders get nods, probably as a way to encourage them to discretely report them to Apple instead of just announcing them to the world.
