When Airport Extreme came out, I remember reading that it wasn't possible for Apple to release an AE card that would fit in the older Airport slots because the bus speed of the Airport slot was insufficient to support AE speeds. That makes very little sense to me, however, since the Airport slot looks and acts pretty much like an ordinary PCMCIA slot, and if 3rd-party vendors can make an 802.11g card for the PCMCIA slot, then why not for the Airport Slot? Oh well.
I would love an 802.11g card for my Pismo, but I just can't stand the thought of having something sticking out the side :P

Would moving the Finder preference file to your Desktop and starting help? If it's a Finder issue perhaps forcing Finder defaults may help?
Quick question, how did you install Lion? I'm asking as some people installed it over Snow Leopard and are running into issues. You can install it fresh by burning the dmg in Lion(DP1 or 2, doesn't matter but DP2 will be best)/Contents/SharedSupport/InstallESD.dmg to DVD or USB:
Creating a bootable OS X 10.7 Lion disc (Update: …and USB stick) (http://holgr.com/blog/2011/02/creating-a-bootable-os-x-10-7-lion-disc/)
I booted up with a fresh SSD and installed fresh, and it fixed a lot of issues (such as not being able to delete any app's in Launchpad and some app's that were not working in DP2 update 2 work well).
Hope this helps! I'm gonna post a thread with this info as well in case others want to know. :)
I deleted it then killed finder in act mon then emptied my trash and restarted. still not enabled.
One of my machines is a macbook air installed from snow leopard to an empty partition.
My other machine is a hackintosh installed using the method you described with nothing migrated from any previous installation. I doesn't work on either of them.

At least 5.0.3 works (launched it from my SL partition).
Well I have 5.0.3 and works with many bugs like don't let add bookmarks and doesn't reopen last closed tabs completely

I don't know how much my head weighs. Can I break the screen? I can put the laptop in my backpack, its mesh and only has a padded back.
The screen can break at the :apple:-logo because the curve of your head might put point-pressure on it - unlike flat books that put pressure on the entire surface of the machine (more or less evenly).

Yes, everybody would like to know more, but what's another month? Besides, here's the thing:
1. FCP X is a complete rewrite. As such, we'll be dealing with what's essentially a 1.0 product. The professional post production community isn't going to jump to ship until FCP X reaches a reasonable level of maturity (and stability) they're already getting with FCP 7. And that will take a while to happen.
2. I think Apple knows this (above) and it's likely the reason they were pretty selective about what they revealed at NAB. I think they expect that FCP X will sell to enthusiasts first and will eventually make its way into professional workflows as the platform gains more acceptance and support from the third-parties. Workflow and stability are everything in a pro environment; this will always trump features. In the end, Apple's approach was better than over-promising on what they may not be able to deliver yet.
I've already decided that unless by some miracle FCP X can really replace my FCP 7 workflow straight out of the box in June (highly unlikely), I'm not buying it until it truly can, even if it's only $300. I'm sure the post houses feel the same way...

I have a skin con the bottom of the macbook. They're going to have to take it off to replace the cd drive... Should I ask for them to reimburse me for the 25$ that skin was?
I think I should get that money or a replacement.. It's not my fault they have to replace the drive and take my protective skin off.

Hi,
Yeah, the credit is the points - in this case 481 points.
However, these WU (and all the other SMP core_A3 and core_A5 ones) also qualify for Quick Return Bonus Points.
Basically, there is a sliding scale that rewards quick return with more points. This is done to encourage people to just run one client quickly, rather than multiple ones more slowly.
However, to qualify for these bonus points (that are often worth 10 times the base points), you'll need a passkey - see here:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1073565
You can calculate how many points you expect to receive here:
http://linuxforge.net/bonuscalc2.php
Hope that helps

I really like my OtterBox Defender, as I mentioned in my review above I almost did not switch over to the the Ivyskin Q3. It is thick, it will not work in any of my docking ports but for protection you can't beat it. OtterBox has a new case in the works that my be of interest here. It has not been released yet it is called the Reflex, see the link below. According to the description it has the protection of the Defender with a slim design and a snap off bottom for docking. It sounds very interesting. :)

Have been running Folding (GUI) on three Macs for the past few months:
PB G4 1.33GHz, 1GB RAM, 24x7
iMac G4 800, 1GB RAM, 24x7
iMac G4 700, 576MB RAM, 24x7
Combined, those have been averaging about 2,600 points per month for me.
Just added today (console):
a 3.6GHz Xeon, 1GB RAM, 800MHz system bus
a Dual 2.4GHz Xeon, 2GB RAM, 400Mhz system bus
How much of a jump in production should I see?

Apple rodents were better in those days :( Although I'm pretty certain I've used generic PC mice ever since I first had a Mac with a USB port. I never did fit into the single mouse button mindset.
Even if the ball did need cleaning in the hockey puck, at least you could do so easily. Most of the Mighty Mice I meet won't scroll up any more, and I never could get used to having to lift my left finger off the mouse to right click. My dad got fed up and disassembled his to clean it out properly the other day, but I'm sure it'll stop working again within a few weeks. :(

Ok cheers guys for that, so is it worth it for being a memory stick and a iPod?
So what does the "i" in imac and iPod stand for and the "e" in eMac???
The shuffle is EXCELLENT as a dual use gadget.
The "i" in iMac originally stood for internet...the first iMacs were touted as the simplest, quickest way to get online.
The "e" is for education, as the eMacs were originally only available to schools but consumer interest convinced Apple to offer them to everyone.
The "i" doesn't really stand for internet anymore, it's simply what Apple uses to differentiate their consumer and professional lines.

Heard a lot of good things about these bags and was thinking of getting one. I have a 12" Powerbook and usually carry an external HDD, Ipod, PDA and a binder and a couple of notebooks. I was looking at the "Wack-o-Phone" or the "Very Busy Man" but not sure which would fit my needs better because I don't want the bag to be bigger than necessary. Does anyone here own these bags?
Or is there any other one you would like to recommend?

I worked on that clip alone for about an hour. Then I managed to pull the lower case section out a little bit to disengage it. I also used a modified popsicle stick instead of a black nylon stick  .
heh.. i figured it out. i accessed it from the optical drive's slot. pbfixit says to go in through the little gap you create between the top and bottom half of the base. i ended up putting some nice dents in my pb from trying to wedge stuff in there.. lo' and behold going in through the optical drive and up released it in 10 seconds. i'm going to email them and let them know they suck. that said, i wouldn't recommend pbfixit.com to anyone.
